If nothing else, last year’s Motorola RAZR could be praised for its outlandish design and ridiculously thin chassis. Motorola is possibly the most distinctive handset manufacturer this side of Apple.
The company has now turned its creative juices back towards the more affordable end of the market with the Motorola Motoluxe. This stylish 4-incher should bring a touch of class and quality to a wider audience.
4-inch edge-to-edge display
Most new low to mid-range Android devices have displays that are sub-4-inches. Not so the Motorola Motoluxe. It comes with a 4-inch 854 x 480 display, which places it alongside the Motorola Droid 3 and the HTC Incredible S for visual clarity. According to Motorola it’s also an edge-to-edge display, which means the phone has a stylish and surprisingly compact appearance without those thick borders you often get on cheaper phones.
8-megapixel camera
The other high-end component the Motorola Motoluxe boasts is its 8-megapixel camera (which also matches the HTC Incredible S). Again, low to mid-range Android handsets often compromise on this area, laying on 3 or 5-megapixel units. Of course, a smartphone camera’s quality isn’t necessarily dictated by its megapixel count, but it does suggest that Motorola may be using one of the decent camera units from its other recent devices.
800MHz processor
Here’s where it becomes apparent that the Motorola Motoluxe is headed for the more affordable end of the market. It comes with a fairly modest 800MHz single-core processor, which isn’t particularly speedy when held against some of the 1.2GHz dual-core processors that run the top-end devices. Still, it should be more than enough to run regular Android tasks smoothly – you just won’t be able to run complex 3D games.Designer iPhone 4 cases Designer iPhone 4 case Designer iPhone 4S cases Designer iPhone 4S case
